Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly – Vanadzor

The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly – Vanadzor is an Armenian NGO working to protect human rights within the Lori region and nationwide, with a particular focus on rights violations in the context of pre-trial detention and penitentiaries, the conduct of criminal trials, restrictions on political protests, compulsory conscription and military service, and the victims of conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh. It provides free legal assistance in person and via a hotline, pursues strategic litigation in national courts and the European Court of Human Rights, and conducts monitoring and reporting on human rights in national courts, places of detention, psychiatric institutions, and special educational institutions.
