Libyan Civil Society Organisation

The Libyan Civil Society Organisation (LCSO) is a Libyan diaspora human rights group established and registered in the UK in 2011, and in the process of being registered in Libya. It aims to build the capacity of Libyan activists and civil society organisations with a particular focus on those working on transparency and on women’s rights and participation. Its Women4Libya project aims to promote Libyan women in decision-making, politics and government by lobbying the National Transitional Council and international governments for better representation of women in governance pursuant to their obligations under UN Security Resolution 1325. It also aims to build the capacity of women activists and civil society organisations to contribute to Libya’s stabilisation and transition to democracy on a sustainable basis, and to raise the media and public profile women’s rights issues in Libya. The grant from SRT is to support the Women4Libya initiative.
