Torture and Death Penalty: Current Grantees

We support prevention work focusing on criminalising torture and increasing the transparency of places of detention. Grantees provide legal representation and expert legal advice to Guantanamo detainees, and to lawyers fighting death penalty cases around the world. We have supported the care of victims of torture in a variety of settings. We support the documentation and litigation work to bring perpetrators of torture to justice. Within the Miscellenous Fund we curently fund the ACLU and Human Rights Watch, both organisations that have focused strongly on American torture, both in terms of documentation and in terms of the public debate.
