Gender-based Violence: Current Grantees
As the Trust has separate sub-programmes on conflict and human trafficking, the grantees in this sub-programme largely focus on domestic and sexual violence - two of the most pervasive forms of violence internationally - and also on the impact of violence on women’s health both in the UK and worldwide. Grantees use a range of strategies including documentation, advocacy, strategic litigation, prevention programmes and training to monitor levels of violence against women and girls, and to hold governments and agencies to account on their obligations to tackle gender-based violence. Grantees also provide direct support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and female genital mutilation in the UK and internationally through legal representation, advice and counselling. The Trust also supports international research and advocacy with a particular focus on the intersection between gender-based violence and transmission of HIV/ AIDS.
