Protection International

Protection International (PI) is an international non-profit organisation that provides protection strategies and tools for security management to human rights defenders who are at risk. Originally the European office of Peace Brigades International, it became an independent entity in 2007, and now works with local partners in over 30 countries worldwide. PI provides technical assistance on the analysis of risks and the identification of appropriate solutions, conducts research studies and produces manuals on the most effective tools for the protection of defenders, monitors states’ policies and practices towards defenders, and advocates for states to implement protection policies based on international standards.
