Refugee Law Project

The Refugee Law Project (RLP) was established in 1999 as a community outreach project of the School of Law at Makerere University. The organisation works to protect the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, IDPs and deportees through a combination of legal and psychosocial assistance, education and training as well as research and advocacy. The RLP runs programmes on the Right to Asylum and Durable Solutions, Access to Justice, Gender and Sexuality, Child Protection, Anti-Torture and Mental Health, Persons with Disability, Transitional Justice and Conflict Sensitivity. The organization also has units for Community Interpretation and Video Advocacy.

SRT has supported the Refugee Law Project via a grant to Amera since 2005.
