Tostan
Established in 1991, Tostan is an international NGO based in Senegal and currently operating in hundreds of villages in nine countries in Africa. Tostan advocates against FGM on a village level, and engages communities to take concrete actions for health, education, good governance, the environment and economic development. Its Community Empowerment Programme covers democracy and human rights; problem solving; health and hygiene; literacy, math, and management skills.
