Guidelines

The Sigrid Rausing Trust takes as its guiding framework the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations in 1948. The preamble of the Declaration begins with these words: “Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.”

The funding categories below are all human rights orientated, and aim to form a coherent framework for the work of the Trust.

The Trust’s funding is divided into five categories:

  • Human Rights
    x
  • Women’s Rights
    x
  • Minority Rights
    x
  • Environmental Justice
    x
  • Social and Economic Rights

Most of the work of the Trust is in the field of international human rights. The Trustees are interested in lasting social change, and in forming long-term partnerships with the organisations the Trust supports.

All organisations that contact the Trust, where their aims fall within the guidelines, will be carefully considered. Due to the number of applications and the rigorous criteria imposed by the Trustees and Director, it is not possible for all to receive an invitation to apply.
