Union of Crisis Centers

Registered in 2001, the Union of Crisis Centers is an umbrella organisation of 15 crisis centres located in 11 of Kazakhstan’s 16 administrative districts, a number of which provide shelter services in addition to psychosocial and legal advice. While supporting its members’ organisational development, the Union uses its collective experience to lobby for legal and policy reforms on domestic violence and trafficking. It also conducts public campaigns to raise awareness of and change attitudes to gender-based violence, and runs a national counselling hotline for children and young people.
