African Policing and Civilian Oversight Forum (APCOF)

The African Policing and Civilian Oversight Forum (APCOF), was originally established in 2004 as a coalition of practitioners and police oversight bodies and has since 2012 been registered as a non-profit trust in South Africa . The organisation works to promote police accountability across Africa, advocating for the development of oversight bodies, and working to create a culture of good governance, human rights and transparency within the police. APCOF produces technical research on policing and accountability across Africa. On the back of this research, the organisation advocates at national, regional and international level to obtain policy changes.
