National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC)

Founded in 2012 by a group of Kenyan lawyers, the National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC)’s aim is to promote and protect the equality and inclusion of LGBTIQ individuals and communities in Kenya and advance their meaningful participation in society. Their main activities include legal aid, strategic litigation, public advocacy and training and civic education on the rights and needs of sexual and gender minorities in Kenya. Since early 2013, NGLHRC has been the only organisation providing free legal aid to sexual and gender minorities in Kenya, using the services of a network of external lawyers trained on LGBTIQ issues to represent their clients.
