Centre for Finance and Security at the Royal United Services Institute

The Centre for Finance and Security was established in 2014 as a department of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). Its mission is to address the intersection of finance and security, with a particular focus on the threats posed by state and non-state actors and the ways in which financial systems enable them. The Centre produces independent research and policy recommendations and plays an important convening role, bringing together policymakers, practitioners and experts. Its work focuses on sanctions, illicit finance, anti-money laundering, terrorist financing, financial crime, and the role of financial systems in enabling or constraining kleptocracy and corruption. It also examines emerging security threats, including the financing of sabotage and political interference. Headquartered in the UK with an office in Brussels, the Centre’s work has global reach.
