Established in 2004, the Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL) is a network of 19 member organisations working to eradicate stigma and discrimination against lesbian, bisexual and transgendered women in Africa. The grant supports a project aiming to construct a collective response to the increasing levels of violence against African lesbians, and the impunity that the perpetrators enjoy. The ultimate aim is to connect and coordinate the campaigns in various countries in order to demand justice at the continental level.
