DEMUS – Estudio para la Defensa de los Derechos de la Mujer, or Study for the Defence of Women’s Human Rights – is a feminist human rights organisation based in Lima, Peru. Founded in 1987, DEMUS works locally, nationally and regionally monitoring public policy and undertaking strategic litigation, campaigns and advocacy, and legal support in relation to violence against women and in response to violations of women’s sexual and reproductive rights. In particular DEMUS prioritises work with women marginalised on the basis of not only their gender but also their ethnicity, race, sexual orientation or social status.
