Full Fact

Founded in 2009, Full Fact began as a fact-checking initiative focused on identifying and correcting false claims made by UK politicians. In the years since, the rapid growth of mis- and disinformation prompted the group to broaden its scope while developing sophisticated digital tools. Full Fact prioritises claims with the greatest potential for harm, either due to their prevalence or their prominence. Alongside this work, the organisation engages in “prebunking”– neutralising misleading claims while they are only beginning to gain traction. Together with the Fundación Maldita.es and the European Fact-Checking Standards Network, Full Fact leads “Prebunking at Scale,” a collaboration of more than 40 fact-checking organisations across Europe combining a shared methodology with targeted AI tools. Finally, the group informs government policy, contributing to the Representation of the People Bill and to the Online Safety Act before it, as well as bolstering the work of more than 45 civil society organisations through the provision of tools and trainings.
