HIAS+JCORE

HIAS+JCORE was launched in 2023 in the UK, uniting the Jewish Council for Racial Equality (JCORE) and the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), bringing together nearly two centuries of experience in welcoming displaced people and combating xenophobia. The organisation mobilises the UK Jewish community to support refugees and asylum seekers, while
advancing racial justice and countering anti-migrant and xenophobic narratives. Although grounded in Jewish values, the methodologies are transferable, and HIAS+JCORE works collaboratively across faiths and minority communities across the UK. HIAS+JCORE delivers a combination of advocacy, community mobilisation, and direct support. It has established itself as a leading Jewish voice on refugee rights, contributing to national policy debates, including opposing the Rwanda plan, and influencing changes to the asylum ‘move-on’ period, extended from 28 to 42 days in March 2026.
