International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) UK Peatland Programme

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) UK Peatland Programme was established in 2009. Currently hosted by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, it arose in response to a recognised lack of scientific consensus and policy on peatlands and their conservation, and a need to cultivate a cohesive community around the issue. The IUCN UK PP’s mission is to promote peatland restoration and advocate the multiple benefits of peatlands through partnerships, strong science, sound policy and effective practice. Key activities include improving understanding of, knowledge exchange on, and funding for peatland ecosystems; developing and promoting good restoration and management practice; and informing policy and legislation at devolved country, UK, EU and global level.
