Sisma Mujer

Corporacion Sisma Mujer (Sisma) is a Colombian feminist organisation that was established in 1998 to expand women’s citizenship and human rights in the context of the deepening armed conflict and its disproportionate effect on poor and marginalised women. Through legal and psychosocial counselling, training and advocacy programmes at the national level, and in alliance with women’s organisations at the local level, Sisma addresses the violence and discrimination experienced by mainly rural, displaced, indigenous and Afro-descent women. Its aim is to build the capacity of women leaders and human rights defenders to protect themselves and defend their rights directly, improve public policies addressing violence against women, and raise awareness about women’s rights more broadly.
