The Aarhus Centre Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Aarhus Centre Bosnia and Herzegovina (the “Centre”) was founded in 2012. It works to protect environmental rights and promote transparent, participatory environmental governance in line with the principles of the Aarhus Convention (access to information, public participation, and access to justice in environmental matters). It addresses environmentally harmful projects including unregulated mining, hydropower, and wind and solar developments which are causing serious environmental degradation and human rights violations. The organisation’s approaches include providing free legal support for affected communities, strategic litigation to challenge unlawful permits and policy advocacy to strengthen transparency and legal enforcement across all levels of government.
