The Reckoning Project

The Reckoning Project (TRP) was established in 2022 in the US, with core operational work focused on Ukraine and emerging work in Sudan. Founded by Ukrainian journalist Nataliya Gumenyuk alongside Peter Pomerantsev and war correspondent Janine di Giovanni, TRP combines legally robust documentation of international crimes with strategic international media engagement to support justice and accountability. Working with Ukrainian journalists, lawyers and investigators, TRP documents crimes including torture, enforced disappearance, unlawful deportation and indoctrination of children, arbitrary detention and forced displacement. Its work feeds into criminal case-building (including universal jurisdiction efforts, International Criminal Court and various treaty body mechanisms) and sustains international attention through high-profile investigative journalism.
