Tore’s Foundation

Established in 2017, the Tore’s Foundation enables disadvantaged young people in South Africa’s
Western Cape to participate in regular, facilitated debate aimed at fostering personal growth and
educational development. The Tore’s programme takes place over three years, and targets secondary
students from schools located a cross a range of township communities. Together they learn to critically engage with materials and concepts, to refine their oracy skills, and to immerse themselves in the experience of civics in action. Beyond these weekly sessions, the Tore’s Foundation runs monthly inter-school debating tournaments and competitions, as well as mentorship opportunities.
Finally, all programming is accompanied by nutritious, hot meals and safe transport to and from events.
