Who Is Your Neighbour
Who Is Your Neighbour (WiYN) is a UK charity that facilitates dialogue on sensitive and divisive issues, including racism, immigration and cultural change. Its work emerged in response to the resurgence of the British National Party in the mid-2000s, initially bringing together faith leaders seeking to address tensions within communities across South Yorkshire. WiYN has extensive experience working with disadvantaged communities, particularly in former mining areas experiencing demographic and social change. Often working at the invitation of local authorities, the organisation facilitates small-group discussions to explore difficult issues, address underlying tensions and develop greater understanding and empathy. Its approach draws on longstanding connections with the peacebuilding movement. WiYN also collaborates with university researchers to deepen understanding of political polarisation and is developing training programmes to enable organisations in other regions to adopt its methods and facilitate dialogue within their own communities.
