African Women’s Development Fund

The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is the first African women’s fund. Led and advised by African women, it serves as a strategic philanthropic resource and as both an operational and grantmaking fund. It supports human rights and development initiatives aimed at promoting women’s equality. Since its inception in 2001, AWDF has supported over 400 women’s organisations in 41 countries on the continent.
