What we do

Our grant-making is organised into three main programmes: Human Rights and Rule of Law; Open Societies; and The Environment. Grantees in those programmes are supported for their work on agreed priorities.

We also have a series of strategic initiatives. These are clusters of grants to address specific problems or opportunities identified in discussion with the fields. The initiatives pursue concrete goals and all grants in a cluster help advance those goals. Issues addressed in strategic initiatives may not fit neatly into one programme.

Finally, trustees also provide gifts in support of the Trust’s wider philanthropic remit.
