Akina Mama wa Afrika (Swahili for Solidarity Among African women)

Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) acts as a training centre and an advocacy engine for the African women’s movement. They are best known for their African Women’s Leadership Institutes that focus broadly on several thematic issues including: poverty reduction, sexual and reproductive rights, gender-based violence and peace building. These leadership institutes are designed by women who are considered to be leaders in the African women’s movement, and attract women aged 25-40 who are already active in their countries.
