Dope Black CIC
Through its podcast and other media outlets, Dope Black CIC provides a digital safe space for fathers to discuss the male parenting experience, and to share the highs and lows of what it means to be a black dad in today’s society. Currently, Dope Black CIC has 3,500 members across the UK, the US and South Africa, and its podcasts feature over 150 contributors. A grant from the Trust will support the development of Dope Black CIC’s new leadership training programme, a multi-stranded educational and development opportunity for its members that includes a cultural history course, highlighting the immense heritage of those of African descent and interrogating mainstream assumptions about this history. The aim of this cultural element of the programme, in concert with the other themes, is to strengthen community knowledge, pride, understanding and individual dignity.
