ELAS – Fundo de Investimento Social

ELAS Fundo de Investimento Social (Social Investment Fund) was established in May 2001 to address the lack of funding specifically for women and to increase awareness of women’s rights. ELAS makes grants to and provides training for women’s groups at the local and national level, and partners with other organisations and networks to advocate for greater philanthropy for women’s and girls’ rights. Grantees include groups that strive to prevent gender-based violence, defend women’s human rights, promote women’s economic independence and address sexual and reproductive rights. ELAS also provides assistance to organisations to improve their ability to communicate their activities and results and to promote joint activities and strategies.
