Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF)

The Global Fund for Community Foundations works globally to build community philanthropy as an essential strategy for people-led development and shifting power through a programme of grantmaking, peer exchange and evidence-based learning. The GFCF’s grantmaking is focused on East Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The GFCF acts as a fiscal sponsor for the Trust’s grant to support a six-month research project that would explore the feasibility of establishing a new funding mechanism for the Middle East and North Africa region. The envisaged mechanism would rely primarily on resources generated locally and would help to build constituencies for human rights by engaging local communities in grantmaking decisions and facilitating connections between communities and human rights advocates in the region.
