International Center for Transitional Justice

The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) works in over 30 countries to resolve legacies of injustice and massive human rights abuse. By helping to address past human rights crimes, ICTJ hopes to help break vicious cycles of violence and reduce the likelihood of future conflict. ICTJ provides support to human rights trials and truth commissions; helps craft reparations programmes; advises justice and security sector reform initiatives; and shares expertise on the role of memorials. Working in partnership with civil society organisations, the Center provides comparative information, legal and policy analysis, and strategic research to justice and truth-seeking institutions, NGOs, governments, the United Nations, and others.
