Kadyr-Kassiyet

Public Association Kadyr-kassiyet (‘Dignity’) works to promote the protection and safety of human rights defenders in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. It was formed in 2009 as a project of the Kazakhstan Bureau for Human Rights in Astana on monitoring respect for human rights in mental health facilities, and was registered as an independent organisation in September 2010. Since 2012 it has organised the annual Platform on Security and Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Activists. In 2013, during the Second Platform, the Coalition of the same name was formed. Today the Coalition totals more than 50 members from 16 cities in Kazakhstan, and one member each from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
