LGBTI Support Centre of the Macedonian Helsinki Committee
The LGBTI Support Centre began as a programme of the Macedonian Helsinki Committee in 2010 and was upgraded to a support centre in 2012. Their activities are organised around three main areas: advocacy to improve the legal and social standing of LGBTI people, community development, and public relations. They offer free legal aid, monitor legislation and implementation of international standards accepted by Macedonia, prepare shadow reports, and lobby local and international decision-makers. They also run support groups for gay men, lesbians, trans people and parents with LGBT children; hold film nights, political debates, arts festivals for the wider public; produce media articles; and conduct media monitoring.
