Republic of Consciousness

Founded in 2017, the Republic of Consciousness supports small literary presses in the UK, honouring their work to broaden and enrich the literary landscape of this country. The Prize is accompanied by a host of events and activities all geared toward increasing small presses’ chances for survival, generating a sense of common purpose and community amongst their ranks, and nurturing a collective of readers. In recognition of the difficulties faced by small presses during the COVID-era, the Republic of Consciousness divided the grant monies between all long-listed entrants during the 2021 competition.
