The Highland Hospice

The Highland Hospice was founded by two experienced NHS nurses in Scotland, Flora MacKay and Cecilia Bottomley, in 1983. The Hospice provides high quality, holistic support to residents of the Scottish Highlands as they enter life’s final stages. It does so through 12 inpatient bed units; a community homecare unit; bereavement counselling services; and through professional training for community healthcare workers. The ethos of the centre is to put the individual and their family at the heart of care, with patient dignity, comfort, emotional wellbeing, as well as their sense of agency prioritised.
