The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) has been active since 1952. Composed of 60 distinguished international judges and lawyers, it has a secretariat in Geneva and eight other offices around the world. The ICJ undertakes advocacy and policy work aimed at strengthening the role of lawyers and judges in protecting and promoting human rights and the rule of law. It seeks to ensure that human rights and humanitarian law are utilised effectively for protection, particularly for the most vulnerable groups.
