Bureau of Investigative Journalism

Founded in 2010, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) is the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative journalism organisation. Its international investigations are organised under four themes – environment, health, enablers and big tech. Its Bureau Local team focus on the UK (including issues such as employment, homelessness and health inequality). Unlike more traditional investigative journalism groups, it places a special emphasis on the impact it is able to achieve through its reporting.

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism was awarded an emergency grant of £90,000 in March 2022 in response to the crisis in Ukraine. The grant supported the immediate expansion of its Enablers project, established in 2020, which seeks to expose the role of the UK’s service industry in supporting global corruption.
