Collective of the Families of the Disappeared in Algeria

The Collective of the Families of the Disappeared in Algeria was founded in 1999 by a group of women whose children disappeared at the hands of government forces during a decade of internal armed conflict. Through documentation, media work, advocacy of regional and international human rights mechanisms, and capacity-building of Algerian activists, the Collective has established itself on the national and international stage as a key player for the respect of human rights. Today, the Collective advocates for transitional justice in Algeria that is built on accountability for past and current enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions.
