Earthworks

Earthworks is a US-registered non-profit organisation dedicated to addressing the harmful impacts of mineral and energy development while promoting sustainable solutions. Established in 1988, the group works with in partnership with local organisations all over the world to promote science-based policy solutions to environmental threats. Earthworks’ interventions often involve the provision of technical and scientific expertise, campaigns support and policy advocacy.

The Trust supports Earthworks’ programme on international tailings management which seeks to improve the management and safety of mine tailings facilities. Under the project, Earthworks partners with local communities and organisations to monitor the environmental impact of tailings storage sites and advocate for better practices and regulation.
