The Engine Room is an international, multi-disciplinary team with staff based on four continents. It advances civil society’s strategic, effective and responsible use of data and technology through research, direct support and community building. It works on three levels: on the local level, it helps resource-constrained activists to strategically incorporate technology and data into their work in a way that increases their impact and fits within existing workflows. On the global level, it works with donors, international human rights and humanitarian organisations to understand how technology can support the work of the sector. Across communities and spaces, it works with a diverse set of actors to shape the narrative around what a rights-based approach to data and technology should look like.
