Freedom House Vilnius

Freedom House Vilnius is the Lithuanian branch of the oldest US-based NGO Freedom House, devoted to the support and defence of democracy around the world. The organisation serves as a hub and protection provider for civil society from the region, particularly Russia and Belarus. It provides emergency and short and long-term relocation assistance to human rights defenders and journalists at risk, including security, medical, trauma and rehabilitation support to those who need it. It liaises with the Lithuanian authorities for the provision of humanitarian visas and residence permits, channels or coordinates financial assistance, housing, language and placement support to relocated activists, and helps ensure civil society groups are able to continue their work from abroad.
