Gender Equality Architecture Reform Campaign
The Gender Equality Architecture Reform Campaign (GEAR) is a network comprised of over 300 women’s rights and social justice organisations and led by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership, the Women’s Environment and Development Organization and the Association for Women’s Rights in Development. The Campaign was established in 2006 in reaction to a wider process of reform within the United Nations and campaigned for the creation of a new United Nations entity for women. UN Women was launched in January 2011, and the GEAR Campaign is seeking to influence the strategic priorities and operation plans of the new UN agency through high-level advocacy at a national, regional and international level.
