Giuvlipen

Established in 2014 by actors Mihaela Dragan and Zita Moldovan, Giuvlipen, which means feminism in Romani, is a feminist Roma theatre company based in Bucharest. Together with other Roma actors, they create and perform their own works, shown in prestigious venues in Bucharest, including the Jewish State Theatre. They also tour regionally as a key part of their work. They have been recognised internationally, performing on the festival circuit, and winning various awards. Their ambition is to throw light onto the culture and history of the Roma, while discussing the social and political barriers that have challenged the Roma, with an approach that is intersectional, both feminist and antiracist.
