MADRE

Founded in 1983, MADRE is an international women’s human rights organisation, that works in partnership with community-based women’s groups facing war and disaster. They aim to advance women’s human rights by meeting urgent needs in communities and by building lasting solutions to the crises women face. They address issues of health and reproductive rights, economic development, education, and violence against women and girls. MADRE provides funds, resources and training to allow their partner groups, or ‘sister organisations’ to meet these goals.

MADRE was awarded £40,000 to support their work in Afghanistan.
