Mawjoudin

Founded in 2015 by young feminists and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights activists, Mawjoudin (Arabic for “we exist”) is a Tunis based organisation that focuses on: safe space for the LGBT community; providing medical, psychosocial and legal support; community-building; awareness-raising among the authorities and wider public; and advocacy to improve the legal standing of LGBT people. It offers trainings and workshops for LGBT community members and allies covering topics such as peer-to-peer counselling skills, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution. Mawjoudin also advocates for decriminalisation of homosexuality and passage of anti-discrimination laws in Tunisia.
