New Writing North
Founded in 1996, New Writing North (NWN) was the first regional writing development agency in the UK. Grounded in the belief that “talent is everywhere but opportunity is not,” NWN targets people and communities typically excluded from cultural experiences and remote from the centres of cultural production. It provides multiple points of entry for writers and potential writers through place-based provisions across the north of the UK, development schemes, awards programmes, mentoring and investment and commissioning. It remains both the largest and the only agency to work with writers across all literary forms, from drama and screen to poetry and fiction.
