Protimos

Protimos is an organisation of lawyers working to provide practical legal assistance and capacity building to indigenous and marginalised communities around the world. Protimos’ work is structured around three programmes: public interest law; intellectual property rights and biodiversity; and governance and accountability.

In 2025, SRT is supporting two separate projects, at £25,000 each. One is the Judicial Action Group, which more broadly is a growing judicial network, providing a forum, resources, and support for leading members of the African judiciary.

The second project is the San Tribal Authorities Governance (STAG) and aims to strengthen the governance of San Tribal communities in Nambia. The pilot project, led by anthropologist Dr James Suzman, works directly with the Namibia’s five government-recognised San Traditional Authorities.

SRT also supported Protimos between 2005-2007.
