Southern Africa Litigation Centre

The Southern Africa Litigation Centre (SALC) is a non-profit organisation that works to bring legal cases which further human rights and the rule of law before domestic courts in southern Africa, with the aim of increasing the capacity of local lawyers and civil society organisations to use litigation and advocacy to advance human rights. SALC was established in 2005 by the International Bar Association and Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa to fill a perceived gap in litigation expertise in the region. Based in South Africa, SALC currently works in Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
