Stop Ecocide Foundation

The Stop Ecocide Foundation is the main fundraising and commissioning vehicle for Stop Ecocide International, which was founded in the UK in 2017 and is the driving force behind the global movement to develop ecocide law (mass destruction of nature) as a national and international crime. Following the formal proposal of ecocide law at the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the EU Parliament voting to criminalise cases “comparable to ecocide”, the organisation spearheads the global momentum about ecocide law. It advocates for, and offers advice and expertise towards building a coalition of willing states prepared to add a fifth crime of ecocide to the Rome Statute, the governing document of the ICC, to sit alongside the four existing offences – Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes and the Crime of Aggression.
