The Five Foundation

Founded in 2019 by Nimco Ali OBE and Brendan Wynne, the Five Foundation works to eliminate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) through international campaigning; legislative and policy advocacy; increased data gathering and monitoring; and through direct support to grassroots groups. The Foundation works in close partnership with more than 50 NGOs the world over, as well as with international platforms such as the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Joint Programme to End FGM. The group’s single, most notable achievement to date was the outright banning of FGM in Sudan in 2020.
