The Media Development Foundation

The Media Development Foundation (MDF) was founded in 2013 to strengthen independent journalism in Ukraine, primarily through its capacity building and mentoring programmes that focus on financial sustainability and media management as well as key skills such as investigative journalism. It also organises the annual investigative journalism conference MezhyhiryaFest. Since the start of the war the group has become one of the leaders in emergency support for Ukrainian journalism. The organisation was awarded an emergency grant of £120,000 in March 2022 in response to the crisis in Ukraine. This will be a contribution to a fund providing emergency logistical, financial and technical support to Ukrainian media outlets and journalists.
