Women’s Prize Trust
The Women’s Prize for Fiction was launched in 1996 to celebrate the best full-length novel written by a woman in English and published in the UK each year, selected by an annual five-member judging panel. In 2024, a second award — the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction — was introduced. The Women’s Prize Trust (WPT) was established in 2019 to consolidate and expand the Prize’s role in championing women’s writing. Alongside its two flagship prizes, WPT runs two writer development programmes: Discoveries, supporting unpublished and unagented novelists, and Horizons, a toolkit and mentoring programme for emerging non-fiction writers. Its community platform, Reader’s Room, extends this work through events, recommendations, podcasts and resources for reading groups, libraries, bookshops and wider audiences.
